Hexagon Slotted and Castle Nuts, are a Hexagon Shaped extended Full Nut with Pin Retaining Slots cut out across the flats

Slotted and Castle Nuts are used on a threaded male part (bolt thread, or threaded shaft) and are used in conjunction with a locking pin, normally a cotter pin which helps keep the nut in position and stops it from turning. The Castle style nut is usually available in metric sizes over M12, it is so called because they have a Turret Castle geometry and the smaller sizes up to M10 are normally a Slotted type (Slots across the Hexagon) They are normally used in conjunction with male threaded fasteners, ie: Bolts, Machine Screws and Studs and tightened up using Spanners or Sockets. Across Flats and Depth will be to European DIN Standards
